As Ethora Knows Him
He led an army for a hundred years and then walked away from everything it earned him. Ask why, and even the people who fought beside him can't tell you.
Before Empurios, King Hidan commanded the royal army against the forbidden practitioners for a hundred years, and he did it personally — in the field himself, more than any king needed to be. He said it was for the crown. He never explained further, and no one who served under him ever heard him say otherwise.
When the war ended and the practitioners were sealed away, there was nothing left for a soldier-king to lead. His brother Sys kept governing, the way he always had; there wasn't a throne left for Hidan to take back even if he'd wanted it. People started calling him a reminder of a time they'd rather forget. He didn't argue. He just stopped attending the things a king was supposed to attend, then stopped being anywhere anyone could find him.
These days, he's a rumor more than a man — a shape seen from a distance near the corrupt border, gone again by the time anyone gets close enough to be sure.
What the Archive Doesn't Say
Hidan wanted the Judgment Gods gone. He'd come to believe they offered nothing but fear dressed up as peace — watching everyone's smallest choices and calling it justice. He never organized anything to make that happen. He didn't have to; enough people already agreed with him, or wanted an excuse for what they'd already done, that a following gathered around his name without his say-so.
In Year 150, that following massacred hundreds of villagers in the west, in his name. He hadn't ordered it. He hadn't carried it out. But it happened because of what he'd spent a hundred years telling people he believed — and that's a kind of guilt that doesn't need a direct hand to be real.
His own Love and Life went into slumber after that. What was left was Hatred, uncontested, and the twisting of his own Divine gift into something else entirely — Corrupt didn't exist before that year. It exists because of him.
He hasn't spoken to anyone who remembers the man he was before Year 150. Not because he can't. Because there's nothing left to say that would change what happened.
